The Settings panel allows one to change some options of Sandboxels, for example the background and world generation.

Changes the unit of temperature displayed. The scale can be chosen between Celsius (Metric, °C), Fahrenheit (Imperial, °F) and Kelvin (SI, K).
Hiding Hide Some Elements
Unhide All Elements
Unlock as Discovered
Configures the behavior of hiding hidden elements.
Hide Some Elements always hides every hidden element.
Unhide All Elements shows every element, regardless of if it's hidden.
Unlock as Discovered starts with every hidden element hidden and unhides an element when it appears in the simulation. The list of unlocked elements persists over closing the game and changing the setting.
Background Color picker (#000000) Changes the background color, i.e. the color of the areas without any pixels.

Basic View
Specifies the coloring of pixels.
Default View colors pixels with their specified color.
Thermal View colors pixels depending on the temperature. Pixels are green for 0°C, then when cooled gradually become blue to -50°C. When heated the color becomes increasingly red, passing through yellow at 500°C and orange at 1500°C.
Basic View renders gases without their glow.
Staining On
Off
Enables some elements to stain (color) other pixels.
Burning On
Off
Allows Fire to ignite and spread through flammable pixels.
Clouds On
Off
Allows Steam to form clouds once it ascends high enough.
Reset Warning On
Off
Enables a confirmation popup when trying to clear the scene using the Reset button.
Fancy Textures ? On

Enables special, position-based textures for Glass and Brick pixels.
Precision Dot On
Off
Highlights the pixel at the cursor.

Controls how often Random Events happen.

Removes some elements from the element picker.
Air Temperature Number (20) Specifies the default temperature for pixels. Elements with a custom default temperature are unchanged by this settings. Elements might undergo a temperature reaction instantly.
Air Density Number (1.225) Controls how fast gases rise. A higher value means faster ascension.
Absolute Zero Number (-273) Sets the minimum temperature. This setting is always expressed in °C. Elements with a default temperature below this setting will not automatically heat up to absolute zero after placement, only after receiving a temperature update.
Reset Discovered Button For use with Hiding: Unlock as Discovered. Resets all discovered elements, i.e. re-hides every hidden element.
Reset All Button Resets everything, e.g. settings, discovered elements, except for save slots.
Clear Mods Button Removes every enabled mod.
Clear Saves Button Clears every save slot.
World Generation Disabled

Allows a random scene of a certain theme (e.g. grasslands, jungle, ocean) to appear when the scene is reset.
Image Element Element (Wood) Specifies the element that images made using the Image tool are created with.
Smoothing On
Off
Enables color smoothing with the Image tool.
